The most memorable experience was having the opportunity to drill on mounted extracted teeth; thanks to the periodontist I shadow. One day I asked him for recommendations on how to improve my manual dexterity skills. I explained what I already do to practice manual dexterity: play the guitar, bend aluminum wires into 3-D objects, paint small action figures in a cardboard box using indirect vision with a dental mirror. He said "nothing will prepare you to work on teeth, other than actually working on teeth. If you are interested, I can get you extracted teeth to work on". I said "absolutely that would be amazing! Thank you!" The following week I come into the clinic and he says "I got teeth for you." So whenever the clinic had a slow day, I was drilling on teeth for hours at a time.
