The opportunity to volunteer for the largest autism fundraising event, Autism Speaks Walk, is humbling and joyful. Witnessing strangers being unified by such a common cause is beautiful. In NY, the event occurs every Fall and I volunteered every semester since I was a freshman in college. In South Florida, the event occurs every Spring. This past March, I volunteered for the Palm Beach Walk, which raised over $200,000! This money can help advance research into better understanding this disorder as well as finding better interventions. I helped with the set-up, clean-up, and cheer the walkers.
